Found the culprit

At the beginning of the summer I purchased some ferns for our front porch. Six

weeks later one looks like this.

The second one just. isn't the same.

This is the back view. It is just horrible! I've been thinking, have I watered

it too much? too little? is it the heat? Until today when I found the culprit.

Two little eggs.

The momma took off as soon as I started watering this morning.

We hope she comes back, for the sake of those baby birds 

 and also for a great  home school lesson :)
